History

Harmony Choir is an non-auditioned mixed community choir in Trail, BC which was formed in 1988. We are committed to encouraging a spirit of good fellowship through Choral Singing and our approximately 40 members range in age from young adults to golden-agers.

Using the traditional Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Bass (SATB) format, we sing a wide repertoire of music from sacred to Broadway to jazz, both accompanied and a capella. Some members are adept at reading music while others rely more on their ability to learn by ear.

Audrey Bisset Director: Audrey Bisset

Audrey received her voice training at the prestigiousPeabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland where she studied under the renowned teacher, Serafina Digiacomo. Earlier in her musical career she performed at Carnegie Hall. Presently, she is a music voice teacher in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. In addition to Harmony Choir, she also directs the Kootenay Women's Chorale and the Kaslo Community Choir.

Audrey has lent her resonant Soprano voice to productions of Sweeney Todd, Three Penny Opera and as a soloist in Handel's Messiah. In local concerts she has teamed up with Tenor husband Chuck and talented Soprano daughter Savannah.

Accompanist: Sarah Currie

Sarah has accompanied singers, instrumentalists, choirs, liturgies, and musical theatre since she was in elementary school. She is involved with the Rossland Light Opera, and finds it a pleasure to play for the Harmony Choir.

Sarah is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy (voice and piano), Oberlin Conservatory (Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance), and University of Pittsburgh (Master of Arts in Historical Musicology).

She expresses special gratitude to Alma Viswat, her first piano teacher, who passed away in 2017 and is no doubt insisting that her heavenly students do some slow work with the metronome.
